Where are the "Printer Definition Files" located?

Using the “Proof Print…” function, I wanted to create an AFPDS file.

The Printers menu only offers “Generic PDF” - when clicking the “Import Definition” - Button, I need to select a “Printer Definition File”. As there is even no hint about the file-extension, I don’t know what to search for and where to start the search.

If there is a standard directory for these files, I’d prefer to open the directory-chooser just in that directory.

Hi Thomas,

The Job Preset’s default location is C:\Users\Connect\workspace\configurations\JobCreationConfig , whereas Output Presets are in C:\Users\Connect\workspace\configurations\OutputCreationConfig

This is the default, meaning this is where we save the files and where they appear by default. Importing a preset will copy it to the appropriate location.

What you seem to be asking is whether we have default AFP printer definition files - we do not currently have any available. Creating an AFP printer definition file is done as a case-per-case basis using an internal-only wizard. Please contact Technical Support for more information on this.

Hi Evie,

thanks for your explanations - I am a little bit confused…

Just to get it right: at the moment there is no way for me to create an AFPDS file, because there is no “Priniter Definition File” delivered with “PReSConnect 1.1”? Even no “Generic AFPDS”?

I checked my current “PReSConnect 1.1” installation, opened an existing template and selected “File/Print…”. The only Output, I can create is “Generic PDF”?

How can I switch to another Output-Type? I remember “PlanetPress” offering a longer list of output-types. Are they not installed with “PReSConnect 1.1”?

Where do I get them?

Horrido,

Thomas

So after a little digging (and a wake up call from a colleague) I have to apologise: there ARE some other print types available, in fact more than in 1.0, in Connect and without any further download.

Go to Window -> Preferences, then in Print -> Available Printers. Check any output type you need to use. This was done to reduce the clutter in the Print wizard for types that were not useful to clients. There are 8 predefined settings for AFP output in the Available Printers dialog.
