Well another unsucessfull update from OL!

Upgrading our server to 2018.2 to utilise some of the new features like post pagination scripts and here I am again late at night with a bricked server!!! Come on guys sort your updates out!!!

Unless you can provide us with more pertinent information than a “bricked server”, we can’t help you much here. Note that it is customary for any updates to a critical system to be first performed on a test server in order to validate if the process is successful. Judging from your post, I have to assume you didn’t do that and updated your live server directly.

If you are in need of urgent help, please open a call with our Support team as these user forums can’t guarantee a response time.

Hi Phil

Lovely idea, do OL provide a test Connect Server licence and Windows server licence for free? I assume that full testing at OL had already been carried out for upgrading?

I finally got Workflow and Server installed, after running a complete uninstall of Workflow and Server, so I have a “cleanish” install of both, however there were still some settings retained, I assume these are stored in my Users folder.

Here is the error after running any of my old workflows, this error happens after running a Datamapping:

[0003] W3001 : Error while executing plugin: HTTP/1.1 404 The specified Datafile passed into this method refers to a missing resource. (0)

I have tried a number of things so far:

  • Re saved all templates and datamapping to version 2018.2
  • Re uploaded to Workflow, both manually and via the Send to Workflow from Designer
  • Re named, re saved the templates and Datamapping and re connected up to the new ons in workflow
  • Cleared the old file store
  • Removed the connect folder containging filestore
  • Re built the mySql database, folling the steps I had been given by support with a previous upgrade issue (stop services, rename the data folder to data.old, copy the auto.cfg file, mysql folder, test folder and performace folder to a new data folder)
  • Created a new workflow config created a new process using an old template (saved as 2018.2)

I think thats it… It was a long night so may have forgotten something else that I have tried.

Any ideas as to what this error message atually means would be helpful… I have looked in all the logs and cant see anything obvious causing an issue…

I must admit this software does feel very flakey and its extremely temprimental… in my experience.

Any help would be huegly appriciated as I have around 40 processes on our live envirenment and downtime is a massive problem.

Oh I also found out that in Java (which is what I believe Connect is built on) its due to spaces in file names, surely this was checked?:

Please contact your local OL support center and they will remote at your site to help you troubleshooting your issue.

Hi iBaldie,
The error described above [0003] W3001 is due to a problem discovered recently.
The workaround is:

  1. open a directory C:\ProgramData\Objectif Lune\PlanetPress Workflow 8\PlanetPress Watch\OLConnect\DataMapper
  2. find a folder with exact name as the name of the problematic DM config.
  3. delete the folder

Note: this problem affects only Database based DM configuration

So this is a bug?

Im ok to just delete the whole folder DataMapper or just the folder correspnding to my datamapper? AM I best to delete all in that case?

This fixed it!! Andriy your a star!

You need to delete only folders that corresponds to Datamapper configurations based on Database input. Unfortunately, this workaround is not permanent, because if you import(send to Workflow) the DM config, the folder is recreated, so you need to delete it again. There is no damage if you delete other folders, all plugins will work as expected, the only inconvenience will be that in UI(in tree view of workflow) you can not see a data file for deleted documents.
This problem should be fixed soon.

Please be informed that the problem has been fixed in the available release 2018.2.1.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this.

Hi Sophie,

Is there going to be an offline installer for 2018.2.1 or just the update via the update client? (The web activation manager site still has 2018.2.0)

Regards,
S

The WAM will be updated next week.

Thanks Phil, I will keep an eye out for it.
