Will this have an impact on (future) OL Connect versions?
I am in the process of replacing all VBScripts in my Workflows but there are still some scripts left. The timeline for replacing the rest of the scripts depends on if/when this will be removed from Connect.
The feature will not be removed in Connect. But obviously, if it is removed from Windows, then Connect will no longer be able to use it.
What is unclear at this stage is what Microsoft intends to do with its Active Scripting feature (which includes VBScript & JScript, as well as support for other languages like Python & Perl). We do not yet know if this will be deprecated as well, and whether it follows the same timeline as VBScript.
Fortunately, we still have at least 3 years before any of these Microsoft decisions impact Connect, so we will be monitoring the communications closely in the meantime.
Thank you for your answer. I did not even think about JScript as most of my scripts are now converted to this. If this happens then scripting will become quite difficult in Workflow. Unless Powershell is supported. Or calling an external interpreter (which could have a performance impact).
