Hi, We are migrating a production server(A) to a new server(B).
Our doubt it’s about the 7 days temporal license:
We need to shut down the current active server(A) BEFORE activating the new server(B) temporal license?
It’s possible keep the current active server(A) active, and the new server(B) active with the temporal license AT THE SAME TIME?
(We need both to perform a good set up of the new server(B))
The “temporal license” of 7 days is usually used when you could not reach the Activations department in time and you need to have everything running. It is then up to you to contact Activations department and get either a renewed license or a transferred license.
During migration, it is the standard to install the software on new server (B) so you have 30 days to setup and test all you need. If you need more time, contact your reseller and he will arrange for an extension of the trial license.
The 7 days was never intended for migration purposes.
That being said, the 7 days license usually doesn’t use the same serial number as the one of the original production server so you should not have an issue running both of them at the same time. You should definitely contact our Activations department to get a proper license tranfer for the new server.
I would contact the Activations department. They can help you with this issue and I have had to deal with a similar issue and they are very quick to respond (usually within hours). If it is a production server you will also have an issue that without a temporary license you will have a banner in place. For a test server this is fine but for a production server you do not want this on your outgoing invoices for example.
Do note that you need to plan this as you are required to also sign some legal documents so there will be some back and forth communication,
