Separation and Imposition help needed

I have a text file, full of six line addresses. I want to print them 3x11 (33-up) on a letter-sized sheet. I have designed my print section to be 2.83in by 1.00in.

The data contains a field that I wish to separate/sort by. These are US Department of Motor Vehicle labels, and the field has a vehicle type value.

The data is unsorted.

I want to SORT the data by Vehicle Type, and I want to Output a separate Document per Vehicle Type, and I want each Document to be 33-up.

I can do the SORT with a Job Preset, but I cannot get the Separation working in the Output Preset. All the labels print (sorted) within a single document.

I have Grouping by Document Set turned on within the Job Preset, and Separation by Document Set turned on in the Output Preset.

If I turn off Cut and Stack Imposition, the Separation works properly, and I get a separate file per Document Set (Vehicle Type).

But as soon as I turn on Imposition, the Separation fails and I get a single document with all Vehicle Types.

To help you properly we would need to see the Template and reproduce the issue. I suggest you open a technical support call at 1-866-348-5863 or through our website.

What I found is that if I group at the “Job” level rather than the “Document Set”, and then Separate on the Job, it works.

It seems that the Output Preset is inconsistent when Separation and Imposition are both selected, and that the Separation only takes precedence when set at the Job level.
