I noticed a considerable increase in my pdf files generated from Connect compared to PPS7.
e.g. PPS7 generated files with a size of 8MB and another of 28MB, Connect generates the same files with 13MB and 45MB respectively. The pdf files used as the background are the same and the workflow is the same, with the exception of the output, where in PPS7 we used the Create PDF task, selecting the .pp7 file and now in Connnect we use All in One.
That is the unfortunate downside of OL Connect using the latest libraries from Adobe (whereas PPSuite uses old versions of those libraries).
Each new version of these libraries supports an increasing number of PDF options (as well as fix a number of issues), which in turn creates larger PDF files.
Those libraries give our coding teams a few options to better control PDF size, but those options usually have a cost in terms of overall performance. Our job is to strike the most reasonable balance between size and performance.
Hey, tks for ur reply
Okay, today there is something we can do to mitigate this “problem”. My pdf output is a simple pdf file to a folder, . Later it will be sent to a printer, I think this size will impact the printing time. I have some that used to be 56MB and today we are generating with 90MB
