Is it possible to create bookmarks in PDF Output from Connect?
Hi Nick,
PDF bookmarks are not currently available in Connect, however are in the wish list for a future release. We have no ETA at this time.
Thanks. Regards,
I don’t mean to necro post but is there any update on the subject? Is it still with no ETA\not in the backlog?
Im interested in this as well.
Cheers
Just strolling by this old thread, I suppose no news and the activity isn’t even in the backlog of development?
@Erik ,
Anything in the pipeline on this?
There are no immediate plans to implement this (internal ref SHARED-53263). We are currently developing a version of OL Connect Designer with the Chromium engine, which will support Tagged PDF and allow us to generate PDF/UA output (internal ref SHARED-41353, wip). Once this is completed, we will revisit the request, as creating bookmarks will likely be easier once the document is tagged, especially when aligning navigation with the content structure (e.g., linking directly to headings or sections).
Is there an ETA for PDF/UA?
Hi @AlexanderStix, apologies for the delayed response! We’re planning to release a Public Beta of the new version of OL Connect on June 23rd, which will include PDF/UA output. It generates the logical structure tree, apply alternate text for images, set the document language and title, embedded fonts etc. It’s a significant step towards generating accessible PDF output.
Please note that PDF/UA output alone doesn’t guarantee proper accessibility. Template designers must ensure logical reading order, proper tagging of content (such as headings), adequate color contrast, and the conversion of essential image-based information into selectable text (for example, don’t lock important information, like bank details, in a background image).
