PANTONE Spot Color name error

I use the EDIT | Colors menu to add a spot color. For example, “PANTONE 266 U”.

In the PostScript and/or PDF output, the color name changes to “PANTONEc20266c20U”, so the RIP fails to recognize the spot color.

EDIT: When I use the “Generic PDF” output, the spot colors are named (and thus, print), correctly. It’s when I use the PostScript Level 3 output that Connect replaces spaces with “c20” in the color name, thus printing fails to use the proper spot color.

Hi,
Firstly, what version of Connect are you using? I did a quick test in the latest version (2018.2.1) and found it produced the following:

4 0 obj[/Separation/PANTONE#20266#20U/DeviceCMYK 60 0 R]endobj

This worked on our FX printer in the office, but that doesn’t mean it works for all printers
By the sounds of your description this may turn out to be bug, so I recommend raising a support ticket with your local Technical Support and having it investigated further.

Using Generic PDF output preset, the color names are correct. Using Generic PS LEVEL3, the spaces are replaced with “c20” and the jobs fail to produce spot colors.
