Filesize pdf preview compared to All-In-One

Hello,

if I create a PDF using “All In One” in Workflow I get a filesize of about 45 k to 60 k. If I use the plugin “Preview PDF” the filesize for the same source dataset is around 650 k. On analyzing the PDF this is because of fonts.

How can I get the “Preview PDF” step to also create small file sizes?

TIA

As explained in the documentation, the PDF Preview focuses on producing PDFs as fast as possible: therefore, the PDFs are not optimized for size.

Thank you for the information. We tested “Preview PDF” because “All In One” stops working with nondescript error messages one or two out of ten times.

Is this related to the recent Connect update that mentions something like this in the changelog?

We haven’t received any reports like this with the latest release, and I’m not sure which part of the changelog you are referring to. Perhaps if you post some of those error messages we can make sense of them?

[0019] W3001 : Error while executing plugin: HTTP/1.1 500 An unspecified error occurred which was caused by LoggedApplicationException: There was an error running the content creation process caused by The function "registerListener" returned an error condition (0x80460004) (SRV000001) [0019] 1: Fehler Test PDF-Erstellung Connect [0019] All in One: W1603 : Plugin failed - 13:07:07 (elapsed time: 00:00:03.355)

This happens if I print more than five or six times from Designer, when I restart designer I again can print a few times before the rror is there again.

Also in production test the same happens one or two times out of ten, or sometimes it works multiple days without errors and then it starts again.

I am referring to this changelog (second paragraph):

The error that this message points to was fixed in release 2023.2 (internal ref SHARED-90189). From the snippet that you posted, it looks like you are currently on 2023.1, so you should update your version (ideally, to the very latest 2024.1).
