error during update to 1.6.1

Hi,
I have reinstalled PReS and now I have the version 1.3, when I open the client update and try to upgrade to version 1.6.1 It returns this error.

How can I fix?

Are you running Windows 10? If so is your machine updated to the Creators Update? That version number is 1703. To check your current windows version click on start on your taskbar and type winver and hit enter. If you are running version 1703 then you wont be able to update.

I had this error too when trying to install PP Connect. You will need to open a support ticket and reference this support number #161200 and ask for Rod. he knows about this.

I ended up reinstalling Windows due to another issue and have blocked updates until OL fixes this issue. You are going to have to either stick with version 1.3 or ask OL for a newer version that is under version 1.6.1.

Open a support ticket is the best solution for you right now.

This is a known issue triggered by the Creators Update and will be resolved in a future release. I struggled with this on one installation and we ended up reverting to a previous Windows build to avoid further production delays.

Luckily in the meantime, we did manage to come up with a workaround:

  • Unpack the installation executable (PReS_Connect_Setup_x86_x64) with an unzip program (7zip) into a folder of your choice
  • Copy paste the “repository” folder, Autorun.ico and Autorun.inf file into the above folder
  • Rick-click on “preinstall.exe” in the above folder and select “Run as Administrator”
