Default Data Type

First post from a long time user and fan.

Quick question, I have a client whose system seems to use “String” as the default data type. He would prefer that his system have the same default behavior as my system. (I make training videos for him, so it’s simpler if the systems have the same general settings.) I use both PPC and PReS Connect at times, and all the systems I dev in use HTML String as the default data type for extractions.

I thought for sure that this would be a setting in the Connect Preferences, but all I see are the date and currency settings. I tried to search the help files, but they only on the date and currency defaults and do not seem to mention a default data type for extractions. Am I missing something simple? Can someone point me to where this can be found?

The default extraction type depends on the input data stream.

For XML, CSV, JSON and Database data streams, the default is String (because those formats are less likely to contain multi-line elements or HTML tokens).

For Text, PDF, PS, AFP, the default is HTML string because multi-line selections are much more common.
