One approach may be to split the job and print to different set up windows driver output plugins (one for simplex and another one for duplex).

This can be done in connect by using the sheet configuration. You’d set the job up as a duplex job then once you are happy with the design right click on the section in the print context (see below)…
Then select ’ sheet configuration’.
From here you can set whether output allowed on the front back or all sides of the on a single, the first, the middle and last sheets. In your case I’d set it to allow output on the front only for the first and single sheets, this way the first sheet should not have anything printed on the back. The settings for this are below:
