Setting the %%Title value for PostScript output

Hello,

First of all, I am not using Workflow.

We generate PostScript files using a connect datamapper, template, job preset and output preset files using the REST API.

We are also using a PPD file for dynamic tray switching.

This all works well. When the files arrive at the print controller though, they are all named 001.ps even though each file is named appropriately.

Upon analysing the PostScript content, it appears connect systematically sets the %% Title to 001.ps.

How can we set it with appropriately in the Output Preset?

Many thanks,
Robyr.

Can you let us know please what kind of PPD file you’re using?

Can you also let us know please what happen when you change the value inserted in the Job Name input field, which can be found on the Print Options page of the Print Wizard window (or Output Creation window), to something like test.ps?

Thank you for your quick reply.

We are not printing directly from the Output preset.
So the Job Name option is not available. Only the Job Ouput Mask as we output to folder.

We are simply generating PostScript spool files which we make available in the interface of a third party application developed in C-sharp.

In this way the print operator can selectively print the files they need when drivers arrive to pickup the goods.

The operator needs to push the files from the app interface to the print controller. They then need to present their badge on the printer to release the files so they physically print. As all files appear as 001.ps, it’s unclear which file is which.

We are using the canon varioPrint 110 PS3-PPD.

Hello.
Does anyone have any idea? Any suggestion on how to resolve will be welcome.

Thank you.

Hello @robyger,

Thank you for providing the requested information.

I assume that it isn’t possible to do so without involving PlanetPress Workflow.

Perhaps someone else knows how to achieve this when using the varioPrint 110 PS3 PPD?
