Send to printer via workflow does not print the right size!

Hi All,

Please Help!(PlanetPress Workflow version 8.8.0.1x)

I have a PP Print Design and Datamapper that generates an A5 colour document. I use the All-In-One configuration to build the job, and then specify the output through WF. When it runs through the “Send to Windows Printer” step, it continuously prints the document on A4 and NOT A5. I have tried / checked:

  1. Installed and Reinstalled the Printer Driver and confirmed the default settings are A5(when I select the printer in the “send to windows printer” connector, and select properties, it does show the default settings correctly.

  2. Gave the user group “everyone” full administration rights on the print queue

  3. Generated a “Preview PDF” from the WF output and confirmed the PDF is generated with the correct size

  4. Hit Ctrl+P on the preview pdf, and then it prints correctly.

  5. Using an Output Preset prints it fine, but this is not an option.

My solution design requires me to use the “send to WP” option. Creating an output preset is unfortunately not an option) PLEASE!

If A4 is printed the printer assigns the print stream to its A4 tray for any reason.

The All-in-One also needs an Output Preset to be set in it’s Output Creation section. So you can’t not select to use no Output Preset.

What options you have selected there? PDF output?

In the All-In-One you can specify that output needs to be determined by workflow, rather than an output creation… Whatever the case may be:

Solution: Load a Windows Print Queue to WF(Home>Printer Queue> Add Printer Queue) and then in the WF process use “Send to Printer Queue” instead of “Send to Windows Printer”.

Works perfectly!
