After creating tags in the Source tab and placing record fields some time when I go to Design tab or preview tab the source tab will word wrap my text. When this happens sometimes it word wraps after an element tab and pushes the punctuation to the following line. This then causes the document to add a space in between the last word and punctuation.
Try adding the following before the location in the DOM (Source View) where you do not want to pretty print the HTML:
