PP7 Design on PPC Server

Can PP7 Design be installed on an Existing PPC Server. We have several hundred PP7 forms that we need to maintain. Eventually they will be rewritten as PPC templates, but the current target is completion in 2 years.

Wondering if the PP7 Design tool can be installed on an already existing PPC server. My understanding was they could coexist as long as PP7 was installed prior to PPC being installed. I’m not sure if this is applicable if you are installing Design only.

They do can coexist BUT, PP7 must be install prior to PPC.
If you wan to do this, you need to completely uninstall Connect, then install PPSuite, then re-install Connect.
Even if it is just the Designer of PPSuite. Since PPsuite Designer doesn’t required a lot of resources, I would suggest to have it installed on a VM alone.

Okay, that is also my recommendation. The question popped up and we already have PPC installed. I didn’t want to risk anything by trying.

I was asked to verify that PPS Design Tool has to be installed prior to PPC being installed. Assuming that nothing has changed, but verifying.

I am not aware of any changes on that matter. The reason is that some settings that both used but that are different will be reset at the install. If you install PPSuite after Connect, those will be of PPSuite and most likely prevent Connect from working properly.

And again, I suggest you run PlanetPress Suite Design tool on a separate VM.

Thanks, I agree that separate is better, still some customers want everything to be on the same system.

Would be nice if there was a “Legacy PPS Design Tool” option even if there was a fee to purchase it. With settings that do not conflict and can send forms directly to Connect Workflow.
