Printing a PDF to PlanetPress Printer, using WinQueue input to capture file,
If I put the file through a datamapper in it’s original form all is ok, I can map data
If the file comes through PlanetPress paused printer queue the I get no data to map, the file also looks slightly shrunk, the PlanetPress printer queue is changing the file, it is the same if I use a different ps driver as well.
Is there any outside factor? Something environmental that could cause this, if I print the same file to a PlanetPress Suite 7 server they have all is ok, file comes through perfectly.
I seem to have tried everything! What could cause the WinQueue input capture to change the file, also does the same if I use a Create PDF with passthrough.
Thanks
Printing the PDF means that an application interprets the content of the source PDF, feeds this to a a printer driver through the print spooler, which means a conversion to XPS and then PostScript, for Workflow to finally convert back to PDF.
Even played the telephone game (a.k.a. Chinese whispers according to Wikipedia)? That’s what’s happening.
Every step of the way gets its chance to modify the final output.
You mention in your second paragraph that printing the PDF yields no usable data, yet in the third paragraph mention that printing the PDF yields workable result. What is the difference between the two?
If you could mention all the modules involved, with versioning information, this would be helpful to analyze the pipeline and make suggestions. Example:
Adobe Acrobat 2025 → local printer queue → PlanetPress Printer 2025.1 → Workflow 2025.1 WinQueue Input in PDF format optimized for file size → Connect 2025.1 Data Mapper ==> No extractable data
Maybe also provide a sample input and final output PDF files, if the content is not sensitive.
Thanks for the response and useful insight.
I started again, new printer using the Objectif Lune PS driver and then created the document in datamapper/template with an output preset using passthrough.
This worked, the WinQueue input captured the file and the data was useable.
I have told the client to print to this and hopefully there is no reason why it won’t work, my fingers are crossed.
