PDF as input, extract some data, print overlay on the pdf, output

I’ve done this before, but for the life of me can’t remember the trick to make it work.

I have an input file that is a PDF. I split the PDF into records on change of data in an area, read a few bits of text on the page and use those to construct a string that is placed in the margin of the template, and print it out.

I want the margin text to go on the margin of the PDF. It shows up on a blank page. I KNOW I did this and had it come out on the PDF before, but don’t remember the trick to use the PDF page as the background. It was really simple.

In Connect Designer, right-click on your section in the tree view, select Background…->General->PDF->From PDF Datamapper Input
