output creation configuration not "sticking"

I have a template. I select “File”, “print presets”, and “output creation settings”.

The window that pops up defaults to configuration name “new” and output settings are Generic PDF.

I want to write a PCL job to a folder. So, I have created a configuration name genericpcl, with properties output type PCL, output local is false, output to directory, job output mask is ${template}. destination folder is on the desktop named testoutput, and was selected by navigating to the folder. I click “finish” and the window closes without a protest.

However, if I then immediately click file, print presets, output creation settings again, I see output settings are generic PDF still.

How to make this take? When I run the workflow using this output preset on the template and send output to file immediately after job creation, I do indeed get a generic PDF.

Never mind. I now see that though you create the output preset where I was spending all the time, the preset to use is specified when you send to workflow, and then the one that is actually used (from the multiple that may be available) is specified at the actual workflow step.
