Open/Import Planet Press 7 Design Docs in Connect Designer

Hello all,
I was tasked with upgrading (migrating) our PlanetPress v7 setup to Planet Press Connect 2022. I was told that I would be able to open or import existing PP7 Design Docs with Connect Designer, but I can’t seem to find the right path to making that happen. Is it possible? Thanks!

Hi,

You cannot convert V7 Designs to Connect Designer documents. The ptks can be used as is in workflow, but Designer is a completely new format that must be designed from scratch.

What if I use PP Design to maintain my existing files…small tweaks - am I able to still send them to Workflow?

Yes, that’s what most people do, they keep a Design 7 installed to be able to edit forms when needed. Messenger7 and Messenger8 cannot run on the same machine at the same time, but if your Design7 is on a separate computer than the Connect computer, you should still be able to send to workflow directly. Otherwise you simply save as ptz/ptk, move the file on the Connect server and import in workflow manually.
