Like Prinshop Mail, I want to be able to create a Media size (SRA3) and a Layout size (A3) and print the A3 on an SRA3 sheet with Trim Marks and bleed.
At the moment in designer I have to have the Media size the same as my layout, only in the output configuration can I set the actual Media size I am printing on, this seems odd to me…
Now, a Media in Connect Designer is simply a resource which offers:
preprinted media settings used in the case of virtual stationery with actual preprinted sheets,
and
media intents such as what type of paper the output should be printed on: paper weight, quality, coating, finishing. This doesn’t include actual sheet size.
The Media resource is not actually used to set the final sheet size and it simply inherits the actual layout size of your print section.
Now, to achieve what you have described above, you would set your print section size to A3 and in the Output Preset, you would select the “Cut and Stack Imposition” option and then set the final sheet size\media size to SRA3.
I think this is very much similar ( if not an exact representation) to the way imposition is achieved in PrintShop Mail classic.
If you have any issues printing A3 on SRA3, please let us know what the exact issue is. For example is the output not centered as expected? Are crop marks not visible?..etc
I have an open case at the moment with support as I am not getting a custom sheet size to come through to our print engine, however this is due to the PDC.
However as you mention it my crop marks are also not coming through on out put…
Crop Marks are off by default. You will need to make sure you select a crop mark type. The available types are: Standard and Japanese.
I have just generated an example A3 1x1 imposition on SRA3 with standard crop marks on and these are applied correctly on the output using Connect Designer v1.3.2.
