Hi iBaldie,

Do you simply want to create hyperlinked text in a print section? I’m not sure I’m understanding you here because there is a “Insert Hyperlink” button. Or via source code…

<a href=“http://learn.objectiflune.com” target=“_blank”>LINK TEXT</a>

Hi Sharne

I want to have a clickable link in the final PDF document.

Thanks

Hi Liam,

Then it is as easy as I mentioned above. Here is the documentation.

Wait a sec, do you mean you want links that link to specific pages within the output PDF? You do not want to link to a web address? If that is the case then I’m not sure.

S

I want a url hyperlink to a webpage in a pdf, so the final output pdf. A user would open the PDF up, and click some text that would open up the webpage, quite simple and possible with other Programmes like in design but does not seem possible with PRes.

Hi,

I find it hard to believe that PReS Connect does not have the Insert Hyperlink button as circled in red below. I assumed PP Connect and PReS Connect was almost identical.

Did you try this?

Hi Sharne

I have no problem inserting the hyperlink both via the GUI button and via code, the setup of it and implementation is all good, my problem is retaining url through onto the final PDF as a clickable link.

If I output a web page it all works fine, as per my opening question I need it as a link in a PDF.

Anyone have any ideas? Developers? Support? Evie?

Thanks

Liam

I believe this is another limitation with Designer unfortunatly! Other software supports it:

https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/hyperlinks.html?origref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.co.uk%2F

That is odd. I’m using PlanetPress Connect and the hyperlinked text does retain a clickable link to a website after I output the PDF. Here is one that I made now.

EDIT: The above was using Connect 1.8.0. I just tried on my laptop version 2018.1.1 and you are right. The newer version of Connect does not retain the linked text. I’m going to open a support ticket now.

Hi Sharne

Im glad its not just me! Positive that it WAS possible! Unfortunatly I need to generate a PDF for a client with clickable links…

Thanks

Liam

Hi,

Are you using PReS Connect version 2018.1.1? Dave got back to me from OL. He has reproduced the issue on his side. 2018.1.1 does break hyperlinked text. I asked for a workaround, I will get back to you asap!

Regards,

S

Yes, I have version 2018.1.1.51014

Fingers crossed!

Thanks

Liam

I have been working on a workaround by inserting the actualy hyperlink url as text on the page and possitioning it under the click area and colouring it white, Acrobat the recognises the links and you can convert them with the edit button, not the cleanest/best workaround but the only one I have found yet!

FYI, I’m still waiting for an answer from Objectif Lune.

we are aware of this, are looking to fix the issue as soon as possible; indeed this currently has the highest possible priority with r&d.

hyperlinks are no longer clickable in 2018.1, but do work as expected in 1.8

So there is no workaround for this issue until OL release a fix/patch/update. iBaldie, how badly does this issue affect you?

Well, my client is waiting for PDFs from me that were due by end of business yesterday for them to circulate to thier employees, so quite massivly at the moment!

Please, please keep us posted on here so I can manage my clients expectations, can a patch be rolled out quickly once its fixed?

Hi iBaldie,

I have emailed Dave at OL about your situation. I hope it makes R&D roll out a patch asap. I will keep you in the loop once he responds.

Any news? Or workarounds?
