Capturing a PDF printed to a print queue then Execute Data Mapping No Extracted Data

Client prints documents to print queues, if they print the document to PlanetPress Printer the PDF file is unreadable in Execute Data mapping, cannot extract the address data. I know why this is happening as i found it in the documentation. The documents are converted to postscript and the character identification info is missing when it recreates it. That paragraph states if the original document is a PDF then an input task that does not involve printing is preferred.

Is there any workaround to this? I have asked them to output the PDF direct to a folder but they seem reluctant or unable to do this, the process currently prints to a print queue that directly prints the letter, we were hoping they could just print to our print queue (PlanetPress Printer) and work through from there but that does not seem to be a viable option anymore.

If anyone knows a solution, I tried Telnet with same result, would an LPD input cause the same issue?

Thanks

Have they tried printing to Microsoft Print to PDF and output that to a folder (I don’t know if that queue can be paused for capturing with Workflow).

Thanks

We are exploring that option on Friday, there is automation to a print queue so I have to explore that automation producing the flat file PDF in a folder. It seems the simplest solution and doesn’t involve recreating the wheel!
