User cannot change sizes of columns. They adjust them in Design, toggle to Preview, and it’s ok. Once they toggle back to Design, their changes are lost. Same with changing the width percentages in Source. Once they toggle out and back, all changes revert.
How do we change the width of columns? The percentage values in the screen shot above seem “stuck” regardless of how we try to change them.
I have tried several different table styles (no style, grid, etc.) and regardless, whatever widths Designer “choose” initially always come back regardless of any subsequent edit.
I even completely removed the entire style declaration for every TD in the table leaving just:
<td>@placeholder@</td>
When I toggled out of Source into Design and then back, every TD element had a style declaration added with a width attribute set to the mysterious initial percentage values. I’m sure it’s because it’s a detail table and something in the hidden CSS for detail tables is setting percentage values… but we definitely need to be able to manually alter/design detail tables.
Apologies if this is not the same issue I have but thought it might be worth mentioning. This appears to be like the very issue I have in 2019.2.2. To be clear, if you design a table, align the columns as you want them, go to preview and back to design the column alignment is all messed up and you have to start all over again?
The only viable workaround was for me to align the table as I wanted it and before going to preview, right click table, select table->Select from the context menu and in the Attributes pane uncheck Allow Resizing. I had to do that to around 60+ already designed templates because if one were to open a template and preview it, send to Workflow, the tables would be a mess. I was also given an option of a script which I did not entertain as that to me is not user friendly.
This issue was to be corrected in 2020.1 but my support ticket was on hold pending release. And due to a SQL database error I am unable to update to 2020.1 so I am yet to test it.
If you would like to raise this issue with OL support, they can refer to my support ticket #182417.
Bumping as this issue is still in 2022.1.5… any changes to the width of table cells are undone by Connect after Preview or when other changes are made to the template.
Unfortunately that’s the only workarround for this issue. I miss the old days when you could resize tables when you were on preview mode and have the changes reflect when you moved the tables. Not sure what version of connect it was, maybe 2019 or so could be wrong. And now with the current connect version you can’t do that
In 2019 and earlier you would lose your custom cell widths when switching from preview to design mode due to a bug in a third-party plugin. The only workaround we could come up with was to disable cell resizing in preview mode. Not having that plugin active in preview mode prevents the issue.

Since 2020 it is no longer possible to resize table cells in preview mode. I was not able to reproduce the issue by resizing cells in design mode, switching to preview mode, and back to design.
